How come they say that GM and FORD are going broke?

mean while they own most car companies worldwide. i mean GM owns opel, and opel/vauxhaul/holden is a strong automotive company, along with daewoo. same thing with ford they own mazda and volvo and th elist goes on. HOW on earth they are doing bad. Just about everywhere you go in the world you will see an american car. Just take a look in USA alone. they do own alot more brands than just a chevy or a ford!!!

HOW are they broke?
 
Because Ford, along with all other US auto makers are not allowed to sell cars on Korea, yet all Korean car manufacturers have open access to the US market.
Also, Japanese imports are approved for sale in the US as meeting EPA MPG and emission regulations based on the class of the car, whereas every Ford automobile or any other American automobile has to sit on the dock until the Japanese authorities approve the car as meeting Japanese regulations.
