How come the WAR ON TERROR does not include targeting domestic gangs?

How come we don't use the national guard to wipe out domestic gangs that terrorize American communities? Why do we only waste resources in Iraq and not in our own country?
Correction BLAKE, domestic gangs are terrorists. If you think you can give me a logical argument why they aren't then I'd love to hear it

Don't forget MS-13 and quite frankly, all illegal aliens are economic terrorists. How is it that there are reportedly more MS-13 gangmembers than there are police? We are trying to secure Iraqs borders, but our politicians are unwilling to secure our own borders.

because the war on terror is an attack on terrorists, technically speaking, domestic gangs are not terrorists to the government

That's because that would not give him profits.

Why Dubya isn't after ETA and IRA?

Good idea, maybe just ship em to an island and let them kill each other off, what a waste of space.

Difference is in intent.

Terrorists aim to undermine governments

Domestic gangs aim to profit from crime. Usually they don't kill swaths of innocent people in the course of normal operations.

That's supposed to be the local authorities; sheriffs dept, city and state police, and FBI's job. Using the National Guard to fight it's own citizens is similar to Gestapo tactics.

Clinton and Reno did kill Americans in a gang. The gang was called the Branch Davidian.

Because if we started killing American citizens(even if they are useless scum) everyone would be up in arms about it.

The federal Department of Defense has no jurisdiction inside the US until we're attacked by an invading force.

We have police forces at local and state levels, and we have the national guard at the state level.

two completely different issues, but I understand what you're saying and agree.

We should be using our National Guard and FBI to more stringently police these gangs. The main issue is what is the difference between a political group/community group and a gang? Its a fine line that is often blurred...

Agreed. And good question. They are definitely the most immediate threat in my area right now. A 14 year old kid from down the street (NOT involved in gangs) was just stabbed in the chest about 3 months ago. He was lucky he lived. Wonder how much it has to do with the illegal thing that no politician seems to want to touch? Also... our jails are filled to the brim with really hardened criminals like pot smokers. So there is no room for the little creeps.
