I have a 1997 Mazda 626 and I just replaced the factory radio with an aftermarket radio. My friend and I rewired it ourselves and while it works it's under several conditions: The headlights are not on and the antenna is not plugged into the radio. Either way this is a pain. If the headlights are on the radio shuts off and when I shut them off the radio will turn on. If I plug the antenna into the stereo (as it should be to use the radio effectively) the fuse under the hood blows for the radio, dash lights, tail lights, and a few other things. I would really like to get some positive feed back that does not include next time use a harness or something to that effect, I realize this already.

go get the wire diagram for your radio and make sure your colors match up, which will be easier if you buy a wire harness for your Mazda which the CD player will hook up to the harness. make sure to unplug your battery while in progress or you will blow a fuse.
