How come on TV, people always have sex on the 2nd or 3rd date?

On TV shows, it seems like a lot of the time, the characters have sex as early as the 2nd date.

But most of my friends say they wait at least 3 months before having sex with a new boyfriend.

So which one do you think happens more in real life?

TV shows are all about action. Things tend to develop very quickly. A slow courtship is not interesting television.
