How come no one who preaches 'Intelligent design' can ever answer this question?

A theist will always claim that the universe is 'too complicated' to not have had a designer, but never seems to realize that whatever being they're insinuating made the universe would have to be even more complicated and, by their own logic, unable to exist without a creator.

To put it simply: Why doesn't this complicated being need a creator?

A common response is 'God is the exception - he has always been and doesn't require a creator'.
I think this is a beyond moronic retort because that logic could just as easily be said about the universe itself (And is by anyone with half a brain).

Ie: Why can't the universe simply be the exception? (And not require a creator)

After all, we live in the universe and can empirically observe that it is real, so isn't the presumption that some mystical, intelligent and infinitely complicated being that we cannot observe empirically is the exception that doesn't require a creator? Occam's razor makes quick work of the idea of God in this scenario.

Personally, I think the 'intelligent design' argument is extremely self defeating mainly because all it really does is draw an arbitrary line (At it's own discretion) that divides what can and can't exist on it's own without a creator. It's ridiculous.

But feel free to give me some ludicrous Biblical/Qu'ran quote that 'proves' me wrong.
@Bible Talk
You sound like such a hypocritical and misinformed fool in your response that I'd almost think you were an Atheist posing as a Christian to weaken their public image (What one might call a 'Troll'). If this isn't the case, then I am deeply saddened.

Do you really place your level of comprehension of the universe above mine? I spend my life constantly searching for actual truth via science, empiricism and philosophy while you sit back and use your bewilderment of the world's complexity as false justification for a fairly tale and you really want to compare our levels of intelligence?
