How come my headlights dim/flicker when my car's ac compressor kicks on?

I just recently replaced the alternator with a refurbed ultima anternator from oreilly's. But for some reason when my ac compressor kicks on, they seem to blink for a second. But only when the ac compressor turns on. Why is that?
