How come my g/fs Pontiac G-6 remote starter only works some of the time?

I've read the directions on this car ( manual & and everything else) and yet she still has problems with her remote start. Even her key-fob explains how to start this car but it don't work .Hold the lock button until the lights come on then hit start. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. Any help would be much appriciated... Thanx,
