How come i didn't unlock a boost slot in NHL 11?

I dont remember the name of the slot but it says i have to be drafted in the first round or something like first 10 of the nhl draft. My player was drafted first but i didnt unlock the boost slot. Its not an upgrade like +5 slap shot, its a slot which i press X on (PS3) and then choose a boost to fill the slot
