How come I can't see my messages on chat?

I was talking 2 my friend on the phone then we decided we would talk on chat. We went on chat and i sent a message. Then it said she was typing then it dissapeared. After a while i called her to ask y she isn't replying. She told me she already sent like 5 messages.
HELP!
