I got randomly added by a Russian boy on Facebook today, and I noticed that most times after he sent something he'd put a bracket. For example, I asked him how he was and he said, "I'm fine thanks)".
I also got added on last.fm ages ago by a Russian girl. She'd do the same thing, but sometimes she'd put more brackets.
