Ok, this isn't some random girl, this is a close friend of mine that I already asked out once. I know, 'friend' right? I thought so too, up until a few weeks ago.
This girl normally is very guarded with her emotions. She doesn't like when guys touch her in any intentional way (she doesn't complain but you can see she's uncomfortable). She doesn't normally tell anyone when she's hurting, complain, anything, she just tries to put on a happy face all the time.
Yet when her grandma died she turned to me. She hugged me tight (already as much 'flirting' as I've ever seen her do to any guy), I took her to the side and consoled her for a while, we went back to our group of friends. One of her other guy friends had seen her crying and tried to put his arm around her (basically like I had been 30 seconds ago) and she almost instantly pulled away and got down to the floor. I sat next to her, asked if everything was ok and she grabbed my hand, twined fingers, squeezed and said 'I'm better now'. We leaned up against each other, and we ended up falling asleep there cuddled up against each other.
I know this might just be grief, but I think I saw something real there. This happened a few weeks ago now, and I've only seen her once since then, and not for very long. We'll be spending a few hours together at a party and I want to find out somehow if her opening up like that towards me meant anything or if she just needed a friend. I care for her enough that I'm ok with either, I just have to know for my own sake, there are other girls actively interested in me but I still only have feelings for her.
How should I go about this?
