Why do we hold religious institutions to such absurdly low standards of morality? Imagine that a daycare center had a pedophile problem, handled it in the same manner as the Catholic Church, and was publicly exposed for doing so. That daycare center would be finished -- and the people who ran it would likely face criminal charges. I see no reason why the same thing should not happen to the Church.
