How can it be possible not to be able to obtain Health insurance in the USA?

Just because I left work owing to a workers' Compensation claim I am ineligible for any known health insurance, WTF, are we a country of savages, or what? May one suggest that there is something deeply wrong here at the core of our society without necessarily being branded a Socialist?
I already know- no one cares and no one will answer- WTF is up with that? This is a serious question, Goddamn it, and you may be next. Seriously folks, wake up!
 
I already am in that position. Since I am a diabetic no company wants to cover me . Theres a list of conditions that bar you from coverage if you had any treatment for them in the last 5 years.
