how can i write a contention for "little women"?

were doing an essay on the book, "little women" about 2 of the characters development. i need help on how to write a contention. so far i've got:
"Alcott has been successful in providing the reader information to further imply our understanding of the girl’s personalities and life morals.

is this good? and what can i add?
