how can i use media center to play dvds that i have copied to my hard drive?

I was using cyberlinks for a the free trail but i heard i can use media center for playing my movies. i saved my movies to my desktop so its easier for me to locate them but when i try to play the movies i recieve a decoder error and it asks me to restart media center or my computer... any ideas?
 
You have to download the correct codecs to play the file. I've forgotten the site, sorry. Just right click the file and select open with Windows Media Center and click the website that it should send you to.
