How can I use linkedin.com to find customers for my business?

I've heard some of my colleagues talk about linkedin.com and
how they're found a few solid leads from the site.

When I asked them how they did it they said they just put their
profiles up and answered a few questions?

I don't know anything about this site. Can someone share their
insights with me re: how I can attract customers by using it?
