How can I use electronics bought in the USA?

to Asia and vice versa. In the USA many times the plugs are 3 prongs and the voltages and different so I was wondering if you can change the plugs or use adapters. Would that damage the machines?

Anybody with experience preferred but all input would be appreciated.
 
It all depends.

Many devices have power bricks that are rated 100-240 V. In that case, you simply need a power plug adaptor available in any travel store or the airport.

Otherwise you need BOTH a power converter and power plug adaptor. The power converter needs to support that max power of the devices you connect to it.
