How can I tell if the fish is male or female?

It depends on the type of fish. There are all kinds of different criteria, one that seems to remain constant is that females are generally more rounded than males.

well it depends on the fish like guppies the males are more colorfull or in some african cichlids have some white dots (to be confused for eggs) are the males. or in mollies or livebearers the males have a long fin on the anal fin where they fertilize the eggs but if you could tell the me the fish then i could tell u if its a male or female
