How can I tell if my fish is a Koi? He has the koi mustache, has grown to

about 10" & grows more all the time.? He was supposed to have been a goldfish. But no longer looks like our other goldfish at all or in size. He has changed color too from gold all over, to yellow-gold with a orange-brown U shape on top of his head and black spots that developed all over and seem to be getting bigger. He also used to be gold metallic all over and now his scales are so big they are partially metallic, but not completely. Oh, and his tail has turned black except for a yellow-gold stripe horizontal into his body in the middle. Very weird. He really likes Koi food though and he just ate part of one of his old buddies. so now he has a huge tank to himself and his best buddy only.
Can anyone help?
