How can I take my pet fish from Alabama to Texas?

I go to school in Alabama and I bought three gold fish here. I'm going home to Texas in a few weeks and I don't know how to bring them along. It's a 9 hour car ride. I read a tutorial for transporting your fish in zip lock bags but it said to only use that method for trips shorter than 2 hours. What should I do?
