how can i stretch my shoulder blades

Is this for exercise reasons ,raising them above your head and stretching seems like a way or rotating your arms as far as you can in a circular motion stretches those muscles. Stretching your chest forward and your arms back can stretch muscles in your upper back. Is this sports related? Are you feeling stiffness or pain in your shoulders?
Searching for sites that show how to do exercises might have some answers.
 
Sit down in front of a table. Place your elbows on the table together, with your arms upwards like a prayer position. While keeping your elbows on the table, learn to the left slowly, and then to the right slowly. This will help stretch out those muscles in the area. It feels great when your upper back/shoulders are stiff too!
