How can I stop my cat from clawing my leather lounge?

I've been told that citronella oil is a good deterrent but don't know if I can rub it on the lounge. Any body know if I can or know of something that I can use if citronella will damage the leather?
 
cats HATE aluminum foil.. maybe try to put some where it scratches for a couple days. also, if you get anything sticky like double sided tape or something like that from a pet store then they won't scratch it either. Then you can take off the stickiness with goo gone :)
