How can I stop being bored and awkward in art class?

I chose art and design as a Gcse choice. I like art but the teachers never let you be creative they tell you what to draw and I hate it! Like when I return to school were going to be drawing the coast and I'm not interested and I really want to do my own thing but can't and I get so bored.
 
Art class is about learning,,,it may be boring because it's not focused on your interest now but it is helpful, the teachers have to cover things like technique which is very important and other none creative areas,,,,art class is not necessarily a place for creating art works,,,but a place to learn how to become better artist,,, if right now you want to do something creative do it at home if you can't do it in class,,,,but what you learn in class will help you with your work at home,,,,,
 
Tell your teacher to let you draw what you want to draw and be creative, then if they dont let you tell your principal about it and maybe they will do something.
 
whatever the teacher tells you to draw..follow the instructions..but make it your own style..like if they tell u to draw a person.....you could draw like a gothic person if you like that style
