In the country I am in we are not allowed to put the big bore kits in the bikes and race them in the standard sections and since they don't have modified sections we have to work with what we have.
Our youngest son is lucky enough to have the support of the top Honda mechanic in our country working on his bike. We just got the latest model crf250r and it has just come from the mechanic who is completely rapped in the job he has done on it. he got an extra 4.6hp out of the bike by doing the following.
The head was flowed and the cam dialled in and tuned on the dyno. Also a manual cam chain adjuster was added. The mechanic has researched the best pipes that are suitable for the crf250r and found that the Akrapovic pipe was okay, but the best pipe for the bike is a Moriwaki pipe made in Japan. They are not easy to get but are certainly the best and made specifically for the Honda.
The mechanic has done a number of race bikes for next season but my sons is one of the only ones that he could get the pipe for and the other race bikes have not come up to anywhere near as good with different pipes.
