How can i speed up the data transferring from USB (Flash Drive) to my PC ?

1 GB Flash Drive containing 1 GB data takes 25 mins to 30 minutes to copy.

I have 3 GHz processor, 512 RAM DDR & Windows xp service pack 2 on my desktop PC.

How can I check that which port Im using
either 1 or 2 (USB1 port or USB 2 port)?

How can I get to know that the flashdrive im using is compatible with USB 2 port?
