I wanna get into the Rice/Baylor Medicine Program which means Im accepted into both Rice University and then Baylor College of Medicine at once. But to be successful (since only 14 kids are accepted into this program a year) I have to show a "defined interest in medicine and are convincingly certain that medicine is the field they want to pursue for their career."

This means I should have significant volunteer hours, personal experiences that focused on medicine, experience with medical research, etc.

But what does that mean? I have volunteer hours down, but can u explain how I can do their other examples?

Thanks very much

You might want to see if you can "shadow" a doctor for a day so that you can see what kinds of work they do, how they interact with patients, how they stay current with medical trends, etc. When my daughter was considering the possibility of medicine, my internist offered to allow my daughter to spend some time with her to see what an internist did. If you're already volunteering in the hospital, you might ask around and see if one of the doctors there will allow you to shadow them. But you could also shadow a nurse, a radiology tech, etc., just to show your interest in all facets of medicine.
