How can I set up my own cooking booth at an event?

There's going to be a local event and I am interested in setting up a booth and cooking food to sell. I don't know what tools to buy, or how to buy them... where to buy them. You see people with all kinds of strange things at events... frying up Philly Cheesesteaks and whatnot. How do I become one of them?
