How can i save my chat logs from MSN in another file..?

I have chat logs saved in my received files [that's where they go] but when trying to copy and put in another on external hardrive or another file on my laptop it says;

'The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

How can i save them in another file, to backup?
