How can I safely securing the bike?

I ride a Honda CBF 500 not something I would think someone would want to steal though if I left it unlocked with keys in the ignition I am sure it would be gone.

Our house is a rental so I cannot drop an anchor into the ground nor can I get the bike around the back

I have an Oxford chain on the bike and no alarm and wondered if someone could give any other suggestions to securing the bike from the casual thief.
 
Secure chain around something not moveable.
Use a different lock one with an alarm built into it - Oxford make one.
Make it hard to see with a cover perhaps.

In practice if you just make it difficult it is less likely to be stolen as it tends to be plastic hairdryers and crotch rockets that the thieves are after as there is a big market for their parts
