How can I remove restaurant odor from clothing?

My boyfriend works at a restaurant on the grill and his work clothes smell horrible. The smell permeates the entire house when he does laundry and doesn't come out. I've even tried detergent with baking soda. Any ideas on how to get this odor out of his work clothing?
