Its my understanding that around 100 yards a normal .22LR will drop out of sonic speed and change the trajectory at random. This isn't for hunting, it just seems inhumane with that round at that distance, I'd just like to be able to consistently hit popcan size targets at up to 200 yards? Any suggestions?
Rifle is Ruger 10-22 with a target barrel, bipod, and 6x20 scope, its a tack driver up close and I know how to shoot. Just need rifle/ammunition tips please... And be detailed, I always choose a best answer.
EDIT: Thanks Guys, I'm not saying theres a magical load or combination of gear that will allow me to point and click and drive tacks out at that range. I'm looking to put it in the range of the possible...
Currently the range I shoot at we can place targets safely around 165-170 yrds, and at that distance and angles, I'm ending up aiming about 8-10 FEET above the target and 5-15 FEET left or right depending on the wind... Hitting a clay pidgeon under those circumstances is basically pure luck...
Thats the aspect I was hoping to improve... Thanks for all the good advice, some of you that is... If theres any more info you want to throw my way I'd be glad to listen
It seems a lot of you guys are recommending higher velocity Ammo and at least one said sub sonic which would be less that 1100FPS correct? Any clarification on which to go with, worst case I just buy both tomorrow and learn that way...
