How can I prove the manufacture date of my Mark III Ford Cortina ?

It was first registered on 20th Feb 1973, but I suspect it was built sometime in late 1972. I've tried the DVLA and Ford, but no joy so far. This makes a difference, because if I can show that it was built in 1972, I won't have to pay VED !
 
Try the Cortina Owners club or Classic Ford register.
I know this was a common issue with MGB owners, so the owners club kept a copy of all of the production records from Abingdon.
Your car will almost certainly qualify, I know some 1976 cars that run on historic tax due to production dates.
