How can I prevent my backpacks and bag purses from being soaked and wet from leaky...

...liquid bottles? Whenever I place my water bottle inside my backpack or purse, it'll always make a leak inside of it. Same thing with soft drinks plastic bottle. On December 9th, 2010, I was buying myself some snacks at the convenience store after basketball practice at 5:46 P.M. Along with the snacks was a plastic bottle of Cocoa-Cola and I'd placed my snacks in my big pink bag purse (an environment friendly bag), which has a red bag of my gym clothes inside. After opening the soda and taking a sup of it, I put it back inside my purse. A minute later after that, I went to the library; and, the next thing I know is my purse is now soaked and wet from the bottle, which the bottle has its cap on by the time I took it out!! The sad thing is that it got my books, mp3 player, and my gym clothes wet. And now I can't listen to my mp3 player anymore!! >:(

I have try closing the cap of the bottle tightly, but it didn't worked well. I really don't want this to keep repeating like this because now my items will be soaked and wet from those bottle, EVEN when those bottle are closed COMPLETELY TIGHT. And the items that are now soaked are the items that are important to me for school, home, shopping, etc., such as my mp3 player. :( So annoying!!!!

Help plz???
