How can I photograph a glossy photo?

Whenever I try to use my digital camera to photograph a glossy photograph (such as an old family photo) theres a glare of myself or my camera on the image itself. I don't use a flash when I take photos like this.

Any ideas on how I could avoid this problem using my digital camera?

I thimk you should take your pictures somewere like wal-mart and have them scanned, it will be a very very nicer quility
