how can I pair iphone 4 with pioneer receiver via bluetooth?

the receiver model number is vsx 521 K (2011) and the bluetooth adapter is asbt100 (not the 200 model) and I can't get it to pair with an iphone 4. does anyone know what's going on or if there are any tricks.

OR, because the manual said that some devices might not be compatible, how can I find out.
would there be an email address at pioneer for support?
