how can i override my motherboard's built in graphic card?

i have a geforce 4 graphic card, but i cant seem to get it to be detected. when i plug in the monitor cable, nothing is shown on the screen. fyi, the built in one is lousy =D thanks..
how can i uninstall it? its built in..?
