We have an appraisal district that shows details of transfers of titles of homes, names of owner, legal description of location of property, taxing entities, rates of the taxes, market value, appraisal value, what type buildings on property, acreage involved, history of tax values accessed, maps of property, size of buildings...on and on.
I've attached a link to the one in my county here in Texas. Key in the following:
Left column under MAIN MENU
choose "Property Records"
Under REAL PROPERTY
chose either "Address" or "name" and just play in this area, since you don't know anyone.
For address, I'd put in "OAK" or a number, and dozens of addresses that begin or have that in their address will show up.
For name, I'd key in "Smith" or "Jones" or some other name...
Then hit FIND
Left Column ACCOUNT NUMBER click on the one you want to see
Now, you can look around and get an idea of information that you can pull for your research.
See if your county has such a site that you can link into for information, without having to go to your courthouse and dig through paperwork.
