I'm looking for advice on buying the first car I will ever have purchased from a dealership.
I do very much like one particular car on one dealership's website, and have yet to find any similar offer that is in my budget for this type of car with the milage of this one.
First off, they have a "make an offer" button on their website -- should I bother making an offer?
Second, I've heard that because the economy/sales market is in a slump, I should start with a very low offer. How much lower is acceptable, if the asking price for the car is currently $8,800?
Lastly, my current car is probably only worth $500. Is that acceptable for a trade-in? And, do I have to drive the car to the dealership to show them the car before they offer a trade-in amount? Some people have told me not to mention that I have a trade-in, because they'll build that into the price. Is that true?
I'd appreciate any other tips too. Thanks!
