we just got a new puppy. she's two months old, and she won't shut up! we've got two babies under three years old, and i mean this dog HOWLS at night in her kennel. not hungry, thirsty, or needing to potty. just not wanting to be in there. there is no possible way for our babies to sleep through this. what can we do?

When we crate trained our puppy at night, he would whine a lot. We read some training books and tried some things, but this is what worked best for us. Use an empty metal can and fill it with coins or dry beans, or anything that will make a loud noise when you shake it and seal off the open end with a lid, tape, or whatever works. Every time he whined, we would shake the can and the noise would surprise him, and he would stop. Eventually he stopped whining because he disliked the shaking can noise so much.

I had the same problem when I first got my puppy. My book suggested a ticking alarm clock. Its suppose to sond like the Mother's heartbeat and soothe the puppy to sleep.

do you have a sunroof in your car? if so your in luck because at 45mph and a slight flick of the wrist your problems are solved!!!! or you might want to try the old rolled up newspaper trick? after enough smacks with that baby it will learn to be quiet....... then think about those beautiful resting babies fast asleep and you won't feel so guilty.

MAYBE LET THE PUP SLEEP WITH YOU GUYS LIKE I LET MY PUP THIS WILL HELP KEEP THE KIDS SLEEPING AND SAME THING WITH YUOR DOG

Answer:
Ignore the whining until he calms down.

Reason:

If you continue to come when your puppy whines then she will think you will come every time she cries. All dogs want is you so if you aren't with her, it is a punishment and will teach the dog to act how you want when she wan'ts attention.
