How can i make My Ford f150 Get better Gas Mileage?

I have a 1997 Ford F150 2 Wheel drive on 31 inch tires and It has 77,700 miles on it. I'm a highschool student and im driving around a lot in town and my gas mileage isn't to good. What can i do to improve it?
