specific please? HELP
thank you for all the people who answered me before. I have EOS 450D for xmas and I am trying to use if to practice my skill for Fashion. What kind of lens and/or flash do I need to make it work? I know it is not the best camera but it is new and I am hoping there is a way I can make it work.

The lens it came with, the new 18-55 mm IS lens is a good start. No fashion photographer I know uses an on-board flash, whether it is the one that is on your camera or an external that fits on the hot shoe.

Once you hone your skills, you will want to use something like a Canon 50D or 5D with a the Canon 24-70 mm f/2.8 lens.

In any case, you will want to at least buy a 750 watt incandescent light with umbrella and reflector so you can produce a good key light with the reflector acting as the fill.

Lowel makes an excellent lamp called the Tota-light which costs under $200 with stand, lamp and umbrella. A 42 inch 5 in 1 reflector with stand, is around $115.

If you want to use some kind of studio flash, like alien bees or other portable studio flash, make sure the heads are rated to at least 350 watt/seconds each ... you will find a number of very cheap kits that give you that total light output, so you will have to do the math to make sure they put out enough light.
