How can I make my AP Art concentrations complicated?

I am a second year student in ap art. This year, I have to make 12 concentrations for my portfolio. I chose to base my concentration or theme on emotions. So far I have made 5 concentrations, but every time I hand them in, my art teacher says they are not complicated. What else can I do to make them more complicated so that I can get a high score on my art portfolio?
