How can I make all my songs on itunes the same volume?

I recently ripped a Coldplay cd of my dad's to my laptop. The music is fine and in good quality, just so LOUD that I have to put the volume down a lot...then when the next song comes on (in shuffle) I can't hear it...

Is there a way to lower these songs automatically so when it comes on it's the same default volume as the rest of my songs.
 
Easy! Go into preferences (on a PC it's under "edit".. I can't remember right now where it is on a Mac.. I'd guess either the apple menu or tools or something like that) then switch to the "playback" tab and there's a check box for "Sound Check" - check that and it'll set everything to the same volume!
