How can I make a motorcycle muffler less noisy? I dont like loud bikes and

neither do my neighbors.? I'm buying a SV1000s tomorrow and the guy has M4 exhaust on it. Is there a way like a silencer or anything to make a bike less noisy? I know most people like them loud but I dont.
The original pipes are big and ugly. Any other solution?
