how can i make a board game for history !?

i have to make a board game for history about africa and its colonization... but he said it cant be like monopoly or be like trivia qiestions... he said he doesnt want people making random answers because he wants us to learn while playing ! how can i make a board game so people can learn ? please help for instructions and how to set up !
