How can I maintain my Chevy Cavalier?

I recently bought a '98 Cavalier that's only had two previous owners and the person I bought it from owned it the last 10 years and kept impeccable care of it and I'd like to continue keeping good care of it. But aside from oil changes every 3 months/3k miles, I really don't know what I should be doing on a regular basis. I've news reports of places like Jiffy Lube selling services that the manufacturer doesn't even recommend and can in some instances be harmful to your car, or some places charge you and don't even do the work. I'd really like to learn what sort of things I need to look out for so I don't get jipped. Thank you.
