What is the best way to learn about photography?
I don't really know anything about photography, except that i really like David LaChapelle and that i would need a SLR camera. Im really interested in photography and think it would broaden my horizons. I live in the east bay of California and believe this you give me a reason to explore
Any help on how i could get started would be great!
Thanks!

You can learn Photography through the following:
1. Reading books about Photography.
2. Looking through Photographs and try to duplicate it through your own camera.
3. Joining support groups in your local area, they are always ready to help you in your inquiries on techniques and camera settings.
4. Shoot, shoot and shoot.

Get your hands on a good film camera. Preferably an SLR (Single Lens Reflex) with a 30 to 70 mm zoom Lens and take lots of pictures. Photography is a learn by doing type of art. Even if all you have is a point and shoot digital, take pictures. But, don't be so quick to delete those pictures you think came out wrong. We lean by analyzing and reflecting on our mistakes, not by clicking on the delete key and making them vanish.

Well the best way is to start taking courses in school or online. You can get a relatively good digital camera for less than a hundred dollars. And then just go out and shoot and learn what works and what doesn't.A digital is a good way to learn as you can delete your mistakes .

you dont need an slr, photography isnt aboutcameras, its about seeing. its not taking the best quality picture, its taking the most visually interesting pictures. subscribe to some photomags, read every article but more importantly, look at the pics. I recomend photographic magazine but there are lots. take pics every were you go, you cant improve till you start, join a camera club in your area if you can and have fun!!
