How can i keep gmote/rockplayer from stopping while i check on another app

on my android phone? I like to use gmote with rockplayer i think to stream videos from my computer to my android phone. I was wondering if there was any way to make the app stay running in the background while i check on something else on my phone because it always closes and makes me restart the video stream....which also makes me wonder if there is a way to make the fastforward rewind buttons work...but anyway...hope somebody can help me...thanks a ton
