How can I increase the performance in my 2001 honda civic LX?

would doing the air intake, catback system improve anything? What are the best brands to buy? How can the suspension be improved?
 
two basics grampa taught me for any car.
properly inflated and maintained tires. secondly, carb cleaner added per owners manual specs. also, i check and clean or replace filters when needed.
 
intake and exahust would give u maybe 15-20 hp if anything, it would definitely run much better and u will feel it. i would stick with AEM intakes thats what ive always used. And for exahust anything works well, im running a heartthrod now, but borla is extremely nice but pricey.
 
As far as air intake I would always go with the standard KN air intake. They do increase your power and fuel economy and plus the filter has a million mile warranty and will pay for itself after time. As far as suspension you can add lowering kits, sway bars, air ride systems it all really just depends on how far you want to go and how much money you want to spend.
