how can i increase the distance/endurance of my sprints?

im a lacrosse player and my coach says that i can run really fast so, she put me down as defense so that i can get the balls from the ground and sprint them down the field for a shot. the problem is that after i do this i get really tired and i have a hard time doing it again without awhile to recover. if i try to do it again i end up slowing down about halfway from tiredness (its the size of a football field) how can i condition my body so that i can do several sprints like this in a half? people have already told me to just go as fast as i can over and over but it really isnt getting me any results. thanks!
